How has the internship been the same as and/or different than your expectations?
Whe I first went to my internship I thought it was going to be the worse nightmare of my life. I didn't know the people, I was only doing one thing and it was boring. Now everything seem normal, I'm more comfortable I'm doing different work. It's more fun now. The internship is a nightmare that I'm very passionate about, I don't want to wake up from this dream anytime soon.
What is similar and different about the culture of the school environment versus the workplace environment? What new skills have you learned that apply to the workplace?
The similarities between the school and the workplace environment is that they both teach you about life. They both can be fun and difficult. The differences between the is that the workplace environment has more freedom. In the workplace there's nobody yelling at you, it's quiet, calm everybody is so responssible and have passion with that they are doing. Sometime we joke around eat enjoy life by doing what you love. Also nobody is watching you every seconds and tell you what to do, or send you to tyhe principal office. The best thing is that they DON'T GIVE HOMEWORK. In school you have teachers yelling at you, pushing to do something you no interest in, homework almost everyday, it's crazy.
What kind of relationship do you have with your mentor and co-workers? How have you grown as a result of interacting with professional adults?
My relation with my mentor is not all perfect but it's getting better everyday. Before If i have a question I try to figured it out by myself. Now it's easy to just ask her annything I want, even if it's about her personal life. Almost everyday she ask me if I want luch, whatever I want she would buy it from us. Sometime she doesn't even ask me she just bought me luch. They always congradulate me for the worked that I have done. I interact easily with them, I hav e three mentors I ask anyone of them whatever I want. We talk laugh, joke around and other things. I even interact with other architects in the building, they tell me about architecture and how to get in a good school. They also tell me some program that would be good to learn while I'm here. It' all good there.
What challenges at the internship have you faced that you have overcome and how did you overcome them?
The challenged that I faced was that sometime when I see a catalogue and it's hard to figured out what catagory it belong too. So what I do is, I read the catalogue sometime they design that I can't figured out what they are. So I just read, read things I can't understand, if when I read I still don't get it I used the internet. they give picture of the products so it helps me I found out where does it belong.
What challenges have you faced in school as a result of the altered schedule and how are you handling them?
The main challenge I face because of internship is homwork challenge. Sometime I finish internship king of late or the train was very late. Whe get home at like six almost seven sometime 7:30, I have to do my homework. By the time I eat or cook something to consume, in a glance it's already eight something. By the time I finished my homework it's already 12:00 sometime 1:00 or 2:00. The annoying part is that I have to wake up early because of college now or SAT prep. So I don't get enough sleep. I have every morning.
What goals are you working to accomplish during the remainder of the internship?
My goal is to learn the CAD program and other program related to my field. The CAD program is program where you can design anything you want. Somebody inform me that it's a little bit challenging to learn, but once you know it's a great thing. I also want to learn anything I don't know but suppose to know.
What new things have you learned about New York City?
One knew thing I learned is that there's a lot of human trafic in Banhattan

E, your internship sounds like the kind of experience we had hoped for for everyone. Boring, trying and uncomfortable at first, now evolving into a second home that is more preferable than school, and gets you to have hands on experiences with something you are interested in.
Superb Post! -AS-
