Weekly Vocab

1. Word: Reluctant

Meaning: unwilling; disinclined

Context: With a reluctant face I stand up and read my poem to the class.

2. Word: Pugnacious

Meaning: Inclined to quarrel or fight readily; quarrelsome; belligerent; combative.

Context: The army only take pugnacious people because they are not scare to walk on the enemy like a carpet.

3. Word: Ephemeral

Meaning: lasting a very short time; short-lived; transitory

Context: The dream of most students is to make school ephemeral

4. Word: Tawdry

Meaning: (of finery, trappings, etc.) gaudy; showy and cheap.

Context: There's nothing wrong buying a tawdry sneaker, it help save money.

5. Word: Onerous

Meaning: burdensome, oppressive, or troublesome; causing hardship

Context: For all onerous student it appear that it is obligatory for them to visit the principal office everyday.

Some would say having to find five words every week is an onerous task. They are reluctant to complete it and become pugnacious with the teacher. They should realize that their internship experience is rather ephemeral and too soon they will wish they could return to their junior year.
